'You know what to do' - fans react as Man United favourite Javier Hernandez leaves LA Galaxy

Former Manchester United striker Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez has left LA Galaxy.

The attacker tore his anterior cruciate ligament in June and will contemplate retirement with the Mexican now 35. He scored 59 goals in 157 United matches between 2010 and 2015, winning two Premier League titles. The veteran is also his country’s all-time scorer with 52 goals.

Announcing his exit on Friday, LA Galaxy said in a statement: “We are grateful to Javier for his dedication and contributions to the LA Galaxy. In four seasons with the Galaxy, Javier was a passionate leader for our club on and off the field. We wish him the best moving forward.”

Hernandez - who could return to Mexico if he decides against hanging his boots up - netted 39 times in 83 outings across four years for LA Galaxy. He has since taken to Instagram to send a farewell message to supporters.

He wrote: “Life becomes exciting when you allow yourself to change and evolve to new challenges. Thanks to everyone who was involved in my journey these 4 years. Thank you for everything @lagalaxy.”

Fans of United and other clubs have now sent heartfelt messages to Hernandez in the comments section of his social media post. Some had encouraging messages about the future while others sent in compliments.
