"You have to..." – Journalist drops Postecoglou claim at Celtic after huge Old Firm win

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has ‘really turned around the ship’ at Parkhead after arriving in difficult circumstances, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The 56-year-old tactician has the Hoops on course to win a domestic treble at this moment in time, and that would be a magnificent achievement, especially given their slow start to the season.

Last term was hugely disappointing for Celtic. They were hoping to claim a historic 10th Scottish Premiership title in a row but ended up finishing a whopping 25 points behind the champions Rangers.

Former manager Neil Lennon departed halfway through the campaign, and it seemed as though a huge rebuilding job was needed at Celtic Park before they could challenge for major honours again.

However, the arrival of Postecoglou in the summer appears to have swung the balance of power in Glasgow back in their favour already.

Celtic were dumped out of the Champions League qualification stages by Danish outfit FC Midtjylland and lost three of their opening six league games, though, piling the pressure on their new boss.

But since then, Postecoglou has guided his side to a League Cup success and the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup while opening up a six-point gap at the top of the table after going 26 games unbeaten in the league.

And Sunday’s Old Firm derby victory over the Gers put Celtic firmly in control of the title race, taking them one step closer to a memorable maiden campaign for their Greek-Australian manager.

O’Rourke believes Postecoglou deserves a lot of praise for the job he has done at Paradise and believes Celtic are now in a strong position to reclaim their SPFL crown.
