'You gave my boy his dream' - Mum of Leeds ace sends message to Marcelo Bielsa

The mother of Leeds United youngster Joe has thanked manager Marcelo Bielsa for the opportunity he gave her son at the club. 

Following a number of poor results – including the most recent 4-0 home drubbing against Tottenham Hotspur – the Leeds manager was sacked over the weekend.

Since then, tributes from many players, such as Patrick Bamford and Kalvin Phillips, have flooded in for Bielsa, praising him for what he has helped them achieve during his time with the club.

Added to that list is Lynne Gelhardt, who took to Twitter to thank the Argentine for giving her son a senior debut with the Yorkshire outfit.

Accompanied with a picture of her son being spoken to by Bielsa shortly before coming on against Wolves, she wrote: “Thank you Marcelo you gave my boy his dream forever grateful.”

Gelhardt made his first appearance for the club in that game against Bruno Lage’s men in October and actually won a penalty to help claim a point. He then scored his first goal for the side in an eight-minute cameo off the bench against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Since then, he has gone on to provide two more assists for the club in the Premier League but sadly, with his teammates, was not able to do enough to keep Bielsa in the job.

With Leeds now just two points above 18th-placed Burnley, the club’s new manager certainly has a big task on his hands if he is to help Gelhardt and co avoid relegation.

The talented teen may well have a big future in Yorkshire. Unfortunately, however, it looks like one that will not include Bielsa.
