You can get a four-course dinner underneath the wings of a Concorde in Manchester Airport


Manchester Airport is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the final Concorde flight with a tour of the aircraft and hanger as well as a four-course meal.

The supersonic aircraft could travel at speeds up to 2180 km/h or just over 1350mph making it the fastest commercial plane ever built.

The Concorde took its final flight on October 22, 2003. The Concorde was then after was placed in the Runway Visitor Park (RVP).

The Concorde was ultimately stopped because of the price to operate it and how restricted it was to the general public because of the costs.

The black-tie event will give guests a chance to meet ex Concorde pilots, Captain John Tye and Fredd Finn.

Guests will get the opportunity to go inside the aircraft as well as get a chance to see the Concorde perform its famous ‘nose droop’.

Guests will also have a luxury four-course meal and have soprano singer, Gemma Ashley giving a live performance.

With only 20 Concordes ever built, this makes the plane one of the rarest ever built with no plans of bringing the commercial supersonic jet back.

Paul Emblow, manager of the Runway Visitor Park, said: “Concorde is an iconic aircraft and its story is intrinsically linked with the story of Manchester Airport and of the Runway Visitor Park.

“For most of its years of active service, Concorde was a regular visitor to Manchester and its iconic silhouette even appeared in the airport’s former logo, such was its resonance with passengers and planespotters.
