Ylber Ramadani Aberdeen transfer value revealed as Dons favourite urges club to consider more than just the fee

Stevie Tosh pulled on an Aberdeen strip long before midfielders were talked about as numbers. But he’s in no doubt about the figure which should be put on Ylber Ramadani’s head as Italian duo Lecce and Verona look to get their digits right and tempt the Albania international to Serie A.

Tosh reckons Ramadani is the complete midfielder and can play as a 6, an 8 and even a 10. The old-school who patrolled the Pittodrie engine room two decades ago still prefers to call it an anchor man, box to box man or attacking midfielder. But when it comes to Ramadani he reckons the Dons star is top quality in anyone’s language.

Which is why he’s not surprised by Aberdeen chiefs’ decision to boot Lecce’s £850,000 bid for Ramadani into touch, as revealed by Record Sport on Monday. He’s seen Dave Cormack hold out for big bucks on Scott McKenna, Lewis Ferguson, Calvin Ramsay and Ross McCrorie in recent years.

And it’s the last of those - McCrorie’s £2m move to Bristol City this summer - which he highlights as the marker rate for 27-year-old Ramadani. Tosh, who saw the player up close in his position as a RedTV co-commentator last season, said: “Ylber was an integral part of what Aberdeen achieved last year particularly after Barry Robson took over.

“He’s an established Albania international and has got good stock at Pittodrie and it’s about the replacement of the player as well. So from Aberdeen’s perspective it’s about selling at the right price.

“They’ll be looking at what’s happened in recent years with McKenna, Ramsay and then McCrorie moving down south for big fees. If the figures for McCrorie are correct then he’s someone who is not yet a full international.
