Yankees say Juan Soto dealing with left forearm inflammation - ESPN

Juan Soto was diagnosed with left forearm inflammation and isn't expected to need a stint on the injured list, manager Aaron Boone said Friday, a day after the New York Yankees' slugger exited a game with soreness.

Soto underwent testing Friday, which revealed the inflammation and no ligament damage in his elbow.

Boone said Soto was day-to-day. He was not in the lineup for Friday night's series opener against the Los Angeles Dodgers in New York, but Boone said he could be available to pinch hit sometime this weekend.

On Thursday, Soto was lifted to start the top of the sixth inning when play resumed following a 56-minute rain delay against the Minnesota Twins.

After the game, Soto said the discomfort in his forearm had been bothering him for about 1½ or two weeks.

The three-time All-Star is batting .318 with 17 home runs and 53 RBIs, a big reason the Yankees have the best record in baseball at 45-19.
