WWE star insane storyline pitch to gain 70lbs and 'just be fat'

WWE Superstar Bobby Lashley once pitched an insane storyline that would have seen him gain close to 100lbs.

The former WWE Champion revealed during a recent interview that around a year ago, he pitched a storyline that would have seen him battle depression.

Showing just how committed he was to making the storyline work, Lashley explained that he said he’d put on 70lbs for the role.

To make characters work, WWE stars sometimes have to undertake small changes to their looks, which including changing up their hairstyle or ring gear.

However, Lashley took that one stage further, revealing in an interview with Sam Roberts that he was willing to put on around 70lbs to make his pitch 'depression' storyline a success.

Speaking on the 'Not Sam Wrestling' podcast, Lashley said that he suggested 'just being fat' to make his pitched storyline work, but Vince McMahon wasn't having it, via WrestleTalk.

I told Vince a year ago, I want to go into the severe depression and put on like 40, 50, 60, or 70 pounds and just be fat, and then be a completely different character.

Lashley went on to provide more details on what he wanted to do, revealing that someone, potentially MVP, would inspire him to lose weight and transition back into the utter machine that we know him to be.

The somebody like an MVP, or somebody that’s on my side, kind of like, pull me back and then have the crowd watch his transition back to me.’ He said, ‘There’s no way you can do that.’ I said, ‘Man, I think I can.'
