WWE: 'Phenomenal' star back in training after undergoing heart surgery recently

WWE Superstar Gable Steveson is back in full training after undergoing heart surgery just last month, it has emerged.

Steveson signed with WWE in September 2021, and despite being drafted to Raw the following month, has still yet to wrestle a match.

The former Olympian seems to be fully focused on his WWE career though, and is now training full-time at the Performance Center.

Over the last few months there have been several rumours circulating about Steveson’s status within WWE, with some even speculating that he’d been let go.

Reports from the Wrestling Observer state that higher-ups hoped Steveson would have been much further along in his development right now after joining last year.

However, we seem to have had some clarity on why Steveson’s progress may have stalled, and it’s due to a health issue he was dealing with.

ESPN is reporting that Gable is now training full-time at the Performance Center after undergoing a procedure for his heart last month, via WrestleTalk.

Gable Steveson, an Olympic gold medalist freestyle wrestler, is now training on a full-time basis at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, after an ablation was performed on his heart last month to treat Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome, he told ESPN.

The report explains that Steveson’s heart condition was discovered before he travelled to Tokyo for the delayed 2020 Olympic Games, meaning WWE would have been aware of the issue before signing him.

Steveson explained that WWE’s medical team, with the help of top cardiologists, recommended that now was the right time to undergo the procedure, which has delayed his start with the company.
