WWE: One of Triple H's exciting new ideas was actually one Vince McMahon rejected

Triple H made his presence felt at SummerSlam last night, proving that WWE is going to be different from how it was under Vince McMahon.

Vince McMahon retired from WWE last week, so SummerSlam was the first pay-per-view that the wrestling giant has ever put on without the 76-year-old in charge.

And to the credit of Triple H, Nick Khan and Stephanie McMahon, who are now running WWE, last night’s show has been received very positively.

Last night’s show felt like a new era of WWE was truly beginning, and it’s one that fans are rather excited about.

And perhaps the most exciting thing about last night’s show came after the opening match, which saw Bianca Belair retain her Raw Women’s Championship over Becky Lynch.

At the end of the match, after Bianca and Becky had embraced, Bayley made her highly-anticipated return to TV after missing over a year through injury.

She didn’t come alone though, bringing out former WWE Superstar Dakota Kai and former NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai as back-up.

Kai was actually released by WWE in April, but with Triple H being a huge supporter of her, ‘The Game’ tempted her into coming back for this angle.

Io Shirai was believed to be on her way out of WWE, but the promise of a main roster call-up under HHH seems to have convinced her to stay.

Io is actually going by a new name now, announcing that she’s going to go by IYO SKY, which you can read more about by clicking here.

In another interesting update, Fightful Select is reporting that the idea for Bayley to lead a faction was actually made several months under, while Vince McMahon was running the show.

However, McMahon rejected the idea, but it’s one that clearly made an impression on Triple H, and he decided to get it sorted for SummerSlam.
