Crash closes part of M4 into Wales bringing traffic to standstill
An accident has closed part of the M4 heading into Wales. Traffic Wales says that the westbound carriageway is completely closed after the crash.
It has happened between junction 23A Magor and junction 24 Coldra. The traffic agency says: "Traffic currently on stop due to collision affecting lane three. Traffic officers at scene. Please expect delays."
Eye-witnesses have said that police, fire and ambulance crews are currently at the scene.
A statement from Gwent Police said: "Emergency services are dealing with a road traffic collision on M4 J23A-24 westbound. The road is closed and diversions are in place, which may cause congestion.
"Please avoid the area if possible and find alternative routes for your journey. Take care."
Maps are showing very heavy traffic on the motorway.
