WWE Hall of Famer recalls Ric Flair punching him during backstage fight

Ric Flair punched a fellow WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley in the face during a backstage altercation in 2004.

Ric Flair has been around wrestling for several decades now, having made his debut in 1972, and as such, he has some rather interesting stories to share.

This one concerns Mick Foley, a WWE show in 2004, and a punch in the face.

The incident took place at a WWE Raw show in 2004, when Mick Foley went up to Flair to get him to sign a copy of his book for charity.

Flair went to shake Foley’s hand, but the WWE Hall of Famer didn’t extend his hand too, and instead asked Ric to sign his book.

Flair didn’t react kindly to the action of Foley, which he seemingly deemed to be disrespectful, and punched him right in the face.

Foley spoke about the incident while on Ric Flair’s Woooo Nation Uncensored podcast, saying he didn’t expect to be hit by the wrestling icon:

“He [Flair] went to shake my hand, and I wouldn’t shake his hand, and I said, ‘You want to sign this book for me?’ I had envisioned a lot of scenarios, and never once did I envision Ric getting up and punching me.”

Foley went on to reiterate that he didn’t expect Flair to get as angry as he got, but noted that the pair had to be pulled apart:

‘It never even entered my mind. When they were pulling me apart, Rhino was the main guy holding me back. He didn’t have to work very hard to hold me back because I wasn’t actually trying to make forward progress. Ric’s anger just caught me off guard, like I never saw it coming,”

The pair worked out their issues, and even wrestled each other at the 2006 SummerSlam pay-per-view event.
