WWE: Gunther's powerbomb is so brutal it once made his opponent's mask fly off
WWE has really pitched Gunther as one of its most dominant stars since his arrival on the main roster in April.
That started under Vince McMahon, with the former NXT UK Champion actually being undefeated during his time working for the ex-WWE CEO and Chairman.
Triple H showed no signs of Gunther’s push slowing down when he was appointed as the Head of Creative in July, and has pushed the Austrian as one of his top stars.
Part of WWE's push for Gunther will see him defend his Intercontinental Championship against one of wrestling's biggest stars, Rey Mysterio.
Rey appeared on SmackDown last night, despite being a member of the Raw roster, telling Triple H that he wanted to quit WWE.
The issue for Rey was his ongoing feud with his son Dominik, so Triple H decided to separate the two and move Mysterio to SmackDown.
In a fatal four-way match during last night's show, Rey then pinned Ricochet, in a match that also featured Solo Sikoa and Sheamus, to earn a shot at Gunther's title.
The match, while unconfirmed at this stage, is expected to take place at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia on November 5.

Fans are clearly excited about the prospect of Gunther sharing the ring with Rey Mysterio, so much so that they've been going to look back on some of his previous matches with other luchadors.
Footage of a clip from WXW has now been doing the rounds, showing Gunther, who went by WALTER at the time, powerbombing Rey Fenix so hard that his opponent's mask flew off his mask.
