WWE: Four 2K games delisted from sale

Four WWE 2K games havebeen removed from sale on Steam, as per Eurogamer.

WWE 2K17, 2K18, 2K19 and 2K20 are no longer available to buy on the digital storefront, and they have also gone missing from the PlayStation and Xbox stores.

The move means that the only two games currently available to purchase are WWE 2K Battlegrounds and WWE 2K22 are currently available to buy.

2K has previously delisted a number of older wrestling games, although they have consistently warned that this would happen.

This time, 2K simply said that they would be switching off the game’s online servers.

2K warned, two months ago, that they would be taking down the 2K20 servers.

They said: “On 30th June, 2022 it will be time for the WWE 2K20 servers to take their retirement and stop online services.

“This includes all online functions, such as online matches and Community Creations. You will no longer be able to access any online game mode after this point, however if you already own the game you will be able to continue to play offline modes.”

2K20 is one of the worst reviewed games in the series’ history, receiving a Metacritic score of just 43 and a user score of 1.7.

WWE 2K22, by comparison, has a score of 77 on PS5 and a user score of 7.4, marking a serious turnaround in the fortunes of the series.

Still, this is not good news for digital historians who want to keep the majority of games accessible, just from a consumer point of view.

2K, though, have now made it impossible for people to buy these retro versions of WWE games, unless one wishes to use nefarious means to do so.
