WWE: Footage of Finn Balor training fellow Raw star back in 2002

Finn Balor and Becky Lynch are two of the biggest superstars in WWE today, and part of the ever-growing Irish influence on the company.

Footage has re-emerged of the two World Champions training together in Bray, Ireland all the way back in 2002.

Balor, six years the senior, was actually Becky’s first wrestling trainer in his own wrestling promotion, the aptly named NWA Ireland.

Since joining WWE, Finn has been a two-time NXT Champion and the first-ever Universal Champion. He has also twice won the Intercontinental Title, as well as the United States Championship.

Becky has followed in his trailblazing footsteps, redefining what is possible for a female wrestler to achieve in WWE. Along with the likes of Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks and Bayley, she has spearheaded the Women’s Revolution of the last decade.

Her immense star power coupled with her all-round wrestling ability has seen her main event WrestleMania, and her training with Finn Balor, which you can see below, will have helped with that.

Becky’s training with Finn highlighted her talents, even at the age of just 15. The agility and counters that have been such a key part of wrestling repertoire are evident throughout.

Despite being only 21, an age most wrestlers are being trained themselves, Balor is already a ring general and able to teach the next set of wrestlers. His unbelievable technical and athletic ability is what served him so well in Japan, a place renowned for its work rate wrestling.

It’s also quite amazing to see the origin of two of the best in the game today – in a warehouse wrestling ring. A world away from the WWE
