WWE Elimination Chamber: Goldberg a free agent after Roman Reigns loss amidst retirement claims

Goldberg lost to Roman Reigns in the opening match of WWE Elimination Chamber tonight, and is now technically a free agent.

In the first match on the main card of tonight’s Premium Live Event, Goldberg failed to wrestle the Universal Championship away from Roman Reigns.

Despite hitting Reigns with several spears, Goldberg ended up having to submit to ‘The Tribal Chief’ at the end of a six-minute match.

Roman Reigns will now defend his Universal Championship against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38, in a match that will likely main event the entire two-night show.

The match is significant for another reason too, given that it’s Goldberg’s last under his current contract with WWE.

As of right now, it seems like Goldberg is a free agent, with no reports suggesting that the WWE Hall of Famer has signed a new contract with the company.

While it’s always possible that Goldberg extends his stay with WWE and signs a new deal, he’s a free agent right now and is technically free to wrestle anywhere he wants.

The former WCW star suggested in an Instagram video this week that his match with Reigns tonight could be his last in WWE.

The WWE Hall of Famer suggested that he could retire after tonight’s match, having the following to say:

I’ve got a job to do Saturday and it could be my last in a WWE ring. So, tune in, watch me smash Roman like I’ve wanted to do for the past twenty years. Thank you.”

As of right now, the future remains rather unclear for Goldberg, so make sure you stay tuned to GiveMeSport for any potential updates on what the future holds for the wrestling legend.
