'Wrong' - Well-known journalist reveals big update on 'special' MUFC linked manager

European football Guillem Balague has given his thoughts on the possibility of Luis Enrique becoming the next manager at Manchester United.

A recent report from Sky Sports claimed that the 51-year-old was on the shortlist to take over at Old Trafford at the end of the season once the interim reign of current boss Ralf Rangnick was over, alongside the likes of Mauricio Pochettino, Erik ten Hag, Julen Lopetegui.

The Spaniard is currently in charge of the Spanish national team and is under contract there until the end of this year’s World Cup in Qatar.

And that is part of the reason why Balague doesn’t think that he will be taking over at Old Trafford any time soon. He expressed his views on OTB’s The Football Show, when asked by the host what chance there was that he would walk out on Spain, he gave a pretty straightforward answer, before breaking down why he believed that to be the case:

(0:25) “He’s got a contract until December, he’s got no intention of leaving Spain. He is creating something special that we saw in the European Championships. He wants to take the team to the national side. He wants to sit with the president of the Federation and see if they renew the contract or not.

“He wants to go to the Premier League, don’t get me wrong, and he wants to go to one of those big clubs, he’s been offered smaller clubs and he said no to them before. But right now is the wrong choice.”
