'I can tell you' - Journalist now reveals what Rangnick has told the MUFC board about Ten Hag

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has spoken very highly of Erik ten Hag with the club’s board.

Earlier this season, the current United boss was hired until the end of the season and will take on a consultancy role with the Premier League outfit.

Part of his job will be to help the Red Devils hire a new head coach to take over before the start of next season, and it looks as though Ten Hag is an increasingly strong candidate for that position.

Indeed, while speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano outlined just how likely it was that Rangnick would recommend the current Ajax manager for the future role.

He said: “I can tell you that Ralf Rangnick spoke in a very high way of Erik ten Hag with the board.

“So, Ralf Rangnick, at the end of the season, will be a consultant of the board for United, but he’s already helping in the process. And his opinion is absolutely positive on Erik ten Hag.”

TIF Thoughts on Erik ten Hag and Manchester United…

Having won numerous trophies in the Netherlands with Ajax, it’s not as though the potential manager would arrive without pedigree. Still, as he has not coached in one of Europe’s top five leagues, questions may well remain about his suitability for such a big role.

With that in mind, if Rangnick has personally spoken in glowing terms about Ten Hag, it would have done his chances the world of good.

It seems that Mauricio Pochettino is the other key candidate for the role, with both men believed to have been interviewed in recent weeks.

However, if Rangnick’s opinion holds a lot of weight and Romano’s claim is true, it looks like Ten Hag may be the man appointed.
