Wrexham AFC boss speaks of Wembley 'hurt' but still confident Reds can clinch play-off glory

Wrexham AFC boss Phil Parkinson was adamant his side will bounce back from the disappointment of losing at Wembley. The Dragons face a vital play-off semi-final tie at the Racecourse this Saturday, just days after losing the FA Trophy final at Wembley.

The Reds were largely disappointing at Wembley as Bromley ran out 1-0 winners, despite the North Wales side backed by over two thirds of the supporters in the ground. The club's Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney also made an appearance alongside partners Blake Lively and Kaitlin Olson.

Parkinson's men must now beat either Grimsby Town or Notts County at home to keep their promotion hopes alive. A full house is expected at the Racecourse and the club's fans will be hoping they can emerge victorious in order to reach the play off final the following week, which will take place at West Ham United's London Stadium.

Parkinson admitted that the defeat at Wembley was a painful one but was also upbeat about his side's promotion chances. He went on to say that although a Trophy win would have been nice, the club's priority is and always has been promotion.

Parkinson said: "I felt some of our approach play was decent. We got in some very good areas but we couldn't find that bit of quality to unlock the door."

"There was no lack of effort. We switched the play, got the overloads in wide areas but that final pass wasn't there today.

"Today hurts obviously, more because of the support we had here as well. That's the nature of the game, we've still got so much to play for, starting on Saturday.
