WPD round-up: Shels dig out crucial win against Galway
Shelbourne stretched their lead at the top of the SSE Airtricity Women's Premier Division to five points with a crucial 1-0 win over Galway United at Tolka Park.
Galway came into this game two points off Shels with a game in hand. A win for Phil Trill's improving side would have been a maasive boost to their title hopes, but the hosts' experience shone through as they dug out a big victory.
The game's decisive moment came in the 51st minute when Roma McLaughlin drilled home an excellent effort from inside the box.
Bohemians damaged reigning champions Peamount United's hopes of chasing down the top two in a 2-2 draw at Dalymount Park.
Erin McLaughlin gave the Peamount the perfect start inside the first minute when Rachael Kelly's attempted clearance punch fell nicely to the Republic of Ireland striker, sho knocked home from close range.
Howver Bohs responded brilliantly to turn things around.
Sarah McKevitt drew them level in the fifth minute after her cross evaded everyone to find the net. Fpur minutes before the break, Alannah McEvoy put Bohs ahead by half-time.
The hosts almost held on, but Karen Duggan headed home an 88th-minute leveller as the points were shared.
