"Wouldn't rule that out" - Journalist hints MCFC could sign "phenomenal" £70m ace after Haaland
Manchester City could still enter the race for Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves this summer, according to journalist Dean Jones.
Neves is expected to seek a new challenge when the transfer market opens up again in just a few months’ time following five successful seasons with the Midlands outfit.
According to The Athletic, there is ‘an acceptance’ within the Wolves hierarchy that Neves may be allowed to leave Molineux ahead of next term if an acceptable offer arrives.
And a recent report in the Daily Mail has claimed that the Portugal international has had a £70 million price tag placed on him after an outstanding 2021/22 campaign.
It’s claimed that Premier League duo Manchester United and Arsenal are long-term admirers of Neves, who has previously been described as “phenomenal”, while European giants Juventus and Barcelona are also keen on his services.
The technically gifted maestro has just over two years remaining on his current contract, so Wolves will be in a strong position around the negotiating table when it comes to discussing a potential deal.
However, Neves’ preference is said to be that he remains in the Premier League, providing a boost to the English clubs monitoring his situation.
Neves has previously expressed his desire to return to the Champions League after he became the youngest captain in the competition with Porto back in 2015.

And Jones believes he is ‘perfectly capable’ of playing for any side in Europe and has even claimed he wouldn’t even rule out the prospect of the midfielder joining City.
