"Would be great" - Sky Sports reporter says 6 ft 5 colossus "should consider" Rangers move

Rangers target Jack Butland “should consider” making the switch to Ibrox this summer, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst is in the market for a goalkeeper and has identified the Crystal Palace ace as a potential addition.

Number one Allan McGregor hasn’t officially left the club, but the 40-year-old is out of contract later this month and might have played his final game for the Europa League finalists.

Regardless, Rangers are still hoping to bring in a shotstopper and are keen on Butland, according to The Sun.

The report states that Butland, who’s played 293 matches in his first-team career, is also attracting interest from newly-promoted Bournemouth, with both clubs on alert following uncertainty over his future at Palace.

He has just 12 months remaining on his Selhurst Park contract, meaning this is the penultimate window the Eagles are able to get a fee for his services.

Butland made 15 appearances in all competitions last season and was used during the second half of the campaign, sharing the gloves with Vicente Guaita.

But with his game-time far from guaranteed under Patrick Vieira, Bridge reckons that he should relish the chance to sign for the Glasgow giants.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “That would be great for Jack Butland, and it would be a huge test for him in what would be a cauldron of noise. Second is bottom in Scotland, but that is certainly one he should consider at his stage of his career to join a club of Rangers’ stature.”
