Worrying update emerges over Oliver Skipp's injury status

Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge claims ‘there have clearly been concerns’ over Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Olivier Skipp’s recent injury setback.

The highly-rated 21-year-old has been in impressive form for his boyhood club this season but a groin problem has kept him out of their last three Premier League fixtures.

Skipp has not featured for Spurs since their 2-0 defeat at the hand of Chelsea prior to the winter break after he developed an infection during his rehab.

The tenacious engine room operator played no part in the enthralling victory over Manchester City last time out, and according to the Evening Standard, he’s set to remain sidelined for tomorrow’s visit to Burnley.

Antonio Conte is reportedly pushing his medical department to get the England Under-21 international back onto the pitch as soon as possible, yet he’s still not able to participate in training.

Spurs are eager to ensure the infection is completely out of his system before he returns to playing, though, meaning a return date has not yet been outlined by the north London outfit.

With the youngster’s situation currently quite complicated, Bridge remained coy over the details of his injury, stating that ‘you don’t know what’s happened behind the scenes’.

In an exclusive interview with GiveMeSport, he said: “I wouldn’t like to say with Skipp because you don’t know.

“You don’t know what’s happened behind the scenes in terms of the injury, but there have clearly been concerns, and he’s played a lot of football over the last couple of years.”
