'World's his oyster' - Manchester City goalkeeper's progress at League One club as exciting prediction made

Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford is improving all the time and Bolton Wanderers boss Ian Evatt believes the world is his oyster.

City stopper Trafford has his sights set on playing in the Premier League and eventually competing with Ederson for the number one jersey at the Etihad Stadium. He has recently signed a new long-term contract which will keep him at City until the summer of 2027.

He is currently out on loan at League One side Bolton. He rejoined the Whites for the season after an impressive spell in the second half of the previous campaign at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Trafford last featured for Bolton in their 3-1 victory over Charlton Athletic over the weekend as his loan side got back to winning ways in League One. It followed back to back losses in the division at the hands of Sheffield Wednesday and Plymouth Argyle.

Trafford perhaps could have down better with the second goal conceded in the loss to the Pilgrims last month as Ryan Hardie's shot went straight through him. But Evatt believes that is evidence of the high standards the youngster has as he believes he is a player where the 'world's his oyster'.

He said: “He’s improving all the time. I think he’ll probably be a bit disappointed with the second one last week (vs Plymouth), but that shows you how high his standards are. He’s a fantastic young player, a fantastic young goalkeeper and he’s another one of those where the world’s his oyster.

“But for now it’s about staying hungry, humble, hardworking, keeping your feet on the ground and continuing to improve."
