World Cup winner says Kylian Mbappe could be open to Manchester United move amid PSG exit

World Cup winner Emmanuel Petit has suggested that Kylian Mbappe could be open to a move to Manchester United this summer as he considers his future at Paris Saint-Germain.

The French superstar has been hotly linked with a move to Real Madrid with his contract at the Ligue 1 giants expiring this summer. The 23-year-old has not ruled out signing a new deal with his current employers, though, and a move to Spain is now not looking as likely as it once was.

Mbappe is said to be considering his options with PSG offering him a huge contract full of financial perks such as a gigantic signing on fee and freedoms regarding his image rights, according to ESPN . Now, ex-Arsenal midfielder Petit is unsure what the future holds for his fellow countryman.

He has suggested that there could be another party involved. The 51-year-old mooted that a club from the Premier League or Bundesliga might be throwing their hat into the ring - including Manchester United - which is causing Mbappe to stall and reassess his options.

Speaking to Genting Casino, he said: “He’s (Mbappe) a leader at PSG. There are big talks (over his future) and big speculation - is he going to stay or is he going to leave? He recently said there have been new elements in his reflections, so maybe there is a third club after him?

“There is speculation if it’s a club from England or Germany. It’s not Barcelona. So it’s Real Madrid, PSG and maybe it’s Bayern Munich, but do they have the money? Is it the policy of Bayern Munich?”

He added: “Maybe there is a club in England? People are talking about Manchester City and Liverpool, but why not Manchester United?
