World Cup draw LIVE as Scotland prepare to be welcomed by Donald Trump

Steve Clarke’s men are in Pot Three but that isn’t necessarily as bad as it may first sound. Sure, we could land a top seed such as England or, gulp, Germany (cue PTSD flashback to the Euros) but we could get Canada.

Similarly, Pot Two has good teams such as Croatia but we’d surely fancy our chances against the likes of Austria or Australia. Yeah, they’d be fair dinkum.

And as for Pot Four, well – anyone fancy a crack at Dick Advocaat’s Curacao or the likes of Haiti? We’d say they’d be a skoosh but some of us are old enough to remember Costa Rica.

Anyway, roll on the draw which is scheduled to begin at 5pm but will likely last hours.
