World Cup defender and double winner: All you need to know about Hull City targets Ayoub El Kaabi and Saba Lobjanidze

Hull City have been linked with moves for two more Turkish Super Lig players after Hatayspor vice-president Mustafa Ozat claimed the Tigers have contacted him about Ayoub El Kaabi and Saba Lobjanidze. The attacking pair scored a combined 26 goals during their maiden seasons for the Antakya-based team, who finished 12th in the 20-strong top-flight table.

Born in Morocco's largest city Casablanca, the 28-year-old El Kabbi is 6ft tall and started out as a defender in junior football before he was converted into a striker who can play through the middle or on the flanks in attack. He made his senior debut for Racing de Casablanca and also played for RS Berkane in his home country before moving to Hebei China Fortune for a reported €6.5million fee in 2018.

The following year, he returned to Morocco to play for Wydad before joining Hatayspor last year, where he top scored in 2021/22 with 18 goals and now has one year left on his contract. El Kabbi is also a Moroccan international and played for his country at the 2018 World Cup, starting against Iran and coming on against Portugal during the Atlas Lions' narrow 1-0 group stage defeats.

He has also featured for Morocco in the Africa Cup of Nations and inspired his country's A team to two African Nations Championship titles in the biennial competition where countries can only select players from their domestic leagues. El Kabbi was top scorer and player of the tournament in that competition's 2018 finals where he plundered nine goals in five matches.
