Mark English finished fifth in his 800m semi-final at the World Championships, with the Finn Valley AC star missing out on a place in the final by just a fifth of a second.
English clocked one minute 45.78 seconds at Hayward Field in Eugene after just missing out on his national record when recording a time of 1:44.76 in yesterday's heats.
Louise Shanahan narrowly missed out on a semi-finals place in the 800m, with the national record holder crossing the line in fifth in her heat in 2:01.71.
Shanahan and English will both turn their attention to the European Championships in Munich next month.
