World Athletics Championships: Irish in action on day 9

The concluding day of action in Budapest sees the 4x400 women's relay team of Kelly McGrory, Sharlene Mawdsley, Roisin Harrison and Sophie Becker take their place in the final.

In an eventful heat, the Irish quartet advanced as one of the two fastest non-automatic qualifiers in fourth spot following the disqualification of the USA team for an illegal baton change.

A season's best time of 3.26.18 was achieved.

Looking ahead to the final, Sophie Becker said: "We'll look to come out and run fast again tomorrow and anything can happen. The USA are out and who’s to say what can happen in a world final. We’re going to recover and come back to do it again. We love competing together and we’ll give it our all for Ireland."
