Women's Super League: The Address UCC Glanmire surge clear of Trinity Meteors after victory in top of the table clash

The Address UCC Glanmire are three points clear at the summit of the MissQuote.ie Super League, following their 80-64 win over Trinity Meteors in their top-of-the-table clash on Sunday.

Third-placed DCU Mercy defeated i3PT Fr. Mathews 85-68, while on Saturday there were wins for Killester, Waterford Wildcats and Ulster University.

Glanmire head coach Mark Scannell insists "there is still a long way to go" in the season despite their victory over Trinity Meteors. Both sides had identical 12-1 records going into this game, but it was the Cork club who came out on top this time, having been twice beaten by Trinity Meteors this season, in the league and cup.

Trinity Meteors were up by seven points, 17-10, six minutes into the first quarter and ahead by six, 32-26, at the same point in the second quarter. But it was The Address UCC Glanmire in front by the slenderest of margins at half-time, 41-40. The home side pushed on in the third, captain Áine McKenna with 10 of her 15 points in the quarter to help put them 60-51 up going into the fourth.

DCU Mercy maintained their grip on third spot with an 85-68 win over i3PT Fr. Mathews.

Karli Seay proved to be the game-winner for Waterford Wildcats hitting 15 of her 26 points in the fourth quarter to help them to a 73-65 win at University of Galway Mystics on Saturday, as they clawed back a 12 point deficit at the end of the third.

InsureMyHouse.ie National Cup champions Killester joined Waterford Wildcats on a 7-6 record, following their 81-69 win over Singleton SuperValu Brunell. Mark Grennell's side were fast out of the blocks, 23-10 ahead at the end of the first quarter, and never looked back.
