Woman taken to hospital after police called to 'disturbance' - a man has been arrested for assault

A woman was taken to hospital and a man was arrested for assault after a 'disturbance' in Moston last night.

Police were called to the scene on Edale Avenue at around 5.30pm. Officers found a woman with an injured leg, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said, and she was taken to hospital.

She has since been discharged with minor injuries. A 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault.

He remains in custody be questioned.

A large cordon was in place on a stretch of Edale Avenue until around 8pm last night, with several police vehicles stationed at the scene. Forensic investigations were pictured carrying out investigations.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "Police were called around 5.30pm on Thursday 10 March 2022 to a report of an ongoing disturbance on Edale Avenue, Manchester. Officers attended and located a woman with an injury to her leg. She was taken to hospital but has now been discharged with minor injuries.

"A 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault. He remains in custody for questioning.
