Woman punched, man slashed and third victim hit by car in triple attack

A woman was punched in the face, a man slashed as he tried to protect her and a third victim hit by a car in a terrifying triple attack.

Detectives in Bury have issued an urgent appeal for information following the incident this morning (February 13).

The force said thankfully, no serious injuries were caused.

A man aged in his 20s has been interviewed and remains under investigation, Greater Manchester Police said.

The incident happened in the early hours of December 11 on Victoria Lane in Whitefield, Bury, which runs off Bury New Road.

Police said a group of people had left a premises on Bury New Road when a dark-coloured Ford Focus stopped near them.

Those inside tried to pull a woman who was part of the group into the car.

GMP Bury North issued an appeal on Facebook.

The force said: "We are appealing for information following an assault in Whitefield. The assault happened on Victoria Lane in the early hours of Saturday 11 December 2021.

"A group of people had just left a premises on Bury New Road when a dark coloured Ford Focus stopped.

"The first victim was bent down near the rear nearside passenger window when she was punched in the face and pulled inwards.

"The second victim was pulling her outwards when his hand was slashed and the third victim was in collision with the car when it left the scene.

"No one was seriously injured."

Det Con Jayne Evans said: "This investigation has been ongoing for two months now.

"We've followed several lines of enquiry and remain committed to identifying the people responsible so we can bring them to face justice.

"We have interviewed one man, in his 20s. He remains under investigation.

"I would like to appeal to anyone with information about this incident to contact us
