Woman in hospital after huge fight breaks out at Irish World Heritage Centre on day of St Patrick's celebrations

A woman was taken to hospital after a huge fight at the Irish World Heritage Centre.

The brawl broke out at around 11pm last night (Sunday), after a full day of St Patrick's Day celebrations at the venue in Cheetham Hill.

The 'large fight' was broken up by officers, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said, and no arrests were made.

The woman was taken to hospital from the scene.

She remains there today.

'Extensive damage' was caused to the venue, police said.

A video taken at the scene showed multiple police cars and ambulance vehicles stationed in the car park.

An eyewitness said he saw 'chairs and bottles being thrown' as the brawl broke out.

This came after a parade was held at the centre on Sunday to celebrate St Patrick's Day.

There was also a funfair at the venue, with entertainment on all day and into the evening.

This morning, pictures taken at the scene showed smashed glass and bottles on the floor outside the venue.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "Police were called just before 11pm yesterday (13 March 2022) to a report of a large fight at The Irish World Heritage Centre, Manchester.

"Officers attended and the group was subsequently dispersed.

"Extensive damage was caused to the building.

"A woman was taken to hospital where she remains.

"Enquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made.
