Woman 'ignored' these cancer symptoms and was hit was devastating diagnosis

A woman has revealed the key symptoms of cancer she initially ignored, encouraging others to "listen to their bodies". Brooke Jordyn was tragically diagnosed with stage two Hodgkin lymphoma just one week before her 20th birthday.

Addressing her followers on social media platform TikTok, Brooke recounted how she started experiencing signs of the disease, such as fatigue, weight loss and night sweats, more than a year ago. But it wasn’t until she told her sister about a lump under her armpit in December last year that she then went to get it checked out.

However, her doctor thought it could have been a cyst. Brooke explained: “So I noticed the lump under my armpit around August time and I kind of just didn't really do anything about it.

“I told my sister about it and she urged me to go get it checked out. So that was in December time. And then after that my doctor looked at it, he said that there would be nothing to be worried about, that it was most likely just a cyst.”

He then referred her for an ultrasound which came back inconclusive so she underwent a biopsy. “After the biopsy, I waited about two weeks,” Brooke, from the US, recalled. “They called me in and I was diagnosed on February 28th.”

The NHS describes Hodgkin lymphoma as an “uncommon” cancer that develops in the lymphatic system, which is a network of vessels and glands spread throughout your body. For this reason, the most noticeable symptom is typically a painless swelling in a lymph node - often in the neck, armpit or groin.
