Woman gifted luxury item from Cartier reveals 'clever trick' designers use to stop theft
A luxury fashion aficionado and former Louis Vuitton employee, has shared a clever tactic used by Cartier to thwart thieves.
After receiving some high-end items from the renowned jeweller, Cindy Serra was given a plain white paper bag to conceal her branded Cartier bag. This discreet approach is designed to deter potential thieves by hiding the luxury brand and the valuable contents within.
Cindy took to TikTok to reveal the additional security feature—a privacy flap at the top of the white bag that prevents onlookers from peeking inside. In her video, she explains: "I went to Cartier today and they put my Cartier shopping bag inside this plain white paper shopping bag which they've done before.
"It's a safety precaution so that if you're walking around the mall or whatever afterwards you don't want to have a luxury brand name you know brandished to everyone letting them know that you have an expensive item in here so I'm used to the plain white bag but I noticed that they upgraded it this time so at the top of the bag they have this little privacy flap built in so it has this perforation here."
Cindy shed light on how luxury brands like Cartier are discreet with their packaging, shielding pricy purchases from curious eyes. In her video, she demonstrated that the clever bag design includes a flap that folds down, ensuring your buys remain private as you go about your day.
Keen to reveal the contents of her unassuming white bag, Cindy lifted the flap to disclose items such as a Cartier magazine, along with the iconic red Cartier bag which cradled her buys. In her own words, to Cindy, these plain carriers have started to signify "becoming synonymous with expensive hidden purchases."
