"Wolves will be desperate" - Journalist shares claim on £8.1m-rated "good servant" at Molineux

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Bruno Lage will be ‘desperate’ to tie Romain Saiss down a new contract amid strong interest in the central defender, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Saiss’ £22,000-per-week deal is set to expire in the summer, leading to major doubts over whether he will still be at Molineux by the time next season gets underway.

According to the Daily Mail, Wolves have rewarded Saiss for his impressive form by offering the 32-year-old a new contract.

However, it does not appear that keeping the 60-cap Morocco international in the West Midlands is a foregone conclusion as the report suggests Saiss’ representatives are eager to secure a deal which would elevate their client into the top bracket of earners at the club.

Joao Moutinho is currently on the most lucrative contract at Molineux – with it being worth £100,000-per-week – so it is clear that Wolves’ proposal will need to include a hefty pay rise if it is to meet the expectations of Saiss’ agents.

The uncertainty over the 32-year-old’s long-term future has alerted a host of clubs and, according to French media outlet L’Equipe – via Get French Football News – Marseille, Lyon, Rennes, Strasbourg, Real Betis, Villarreal, Wolfsburg and a number of Turkish outfits are all keeping tabs on the situation.

Sevilla have also been named as suitors of the 6 ft 3 star as his contract closes in on its expiry date.

The journalist feels the Molineux-based outfit would be distraught if the Moroccan, who joined from Angers close to six years ago, left in the summer.

O’Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: “I think
