Wolves told Ruben Neves transfer theory as Manchester United face £138m dilemma
Wolverhampton Wanderers are backing Bruno Lage this summer and are reportedly interested in making two big additions to his squad.
Those players in question are midfielders Enzo Fernandez and Matheus Nunes, which has subsequently led to suggestions that star man Ruben Neves will be leaving Molineux in the coming weeks. Though, while top suitor Barcelona aren’t currently in a position to finance the deal and Manchester United debate moving for the Portuguese - who the The Telegraph claim could be worth up to £70million - or €80million-rated (£68million) Frenkie de Jong, fans on social media are excited about what Lage's midfield could look like next term.
The latest reports on Man Utd's interest in Neves suggest that Erik ten Hag views Neves as an alternative option to De Jong and transfer insider Fabrizio Romano claims that the midfielder is admired at Old Trafford. He told GiveMeSport: "I’m sure they have some alternatives. Ruben Neves is a player, that last summer, was already on the list. He’s always been on the list of Manchester United, and is really appreciated."
As things stand, Wolves remain in talks with Sporting Lisbon for midfielder Nunes, who is valued at around £51million by the Portuguese club, while Fernandez has a release clause of €20million (£17m) and looks set to leave his homeland this summer. According to multiple news sources in Argentina, Wolves’ scouting chief Mathew Hobbs is due to arrive in the country to discuss the transfer of Fernandez with River Plate officials.
On social media, supporters have been reacting to the links to Fernandez and Nunez, suggesting they'd make a formidable trio with Neves, who they back to remain at the club as Barca and United are yet to progress with a deal.
