Wolves sent Hugo Ekitike demand as Fosun set for £20m transfer decision

All of the Wolves headlines on Tuesday, May 31...

Reims have named their price for in-demand forward Hugo Ekitike amid interest from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Wolves are among numerous interested clubs in the 19-year-old who scored 10 times in Ligue 1 for Reims last season. Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United are reportedly keeping tabs on Ekitike, while Newcastle United saw a £29million bid rejected by Reims in January.

Speaking about Newcastle's bid in January, Reims president Jean-Pierre Caillot explained why it was turned down. He said: "Newcastle positioned themselves, we discussed it, they made us an offer that did not suit us.

"As we do not really want him to leave, we have fixed the price quite high. They did offer us €35million (£29m) all in, but with a number of bonuses, some of them were quasi-impossible to reach. Like for example, winning the Champions League… We want €30m (£25m) flat and €10m (£8.3m) achievable bonuses."

Reims are now keen to secure a sale and their demands have dropped as a result. Caillot says clubs interested in Ekitike will now have to pay an initial €20m (£17m).

"The amount should be more than €20million. Afterwards, you have to know how to be reasonable," he said. French media outlets suggest Reims will demand significant add-ons on top of that fee, while a 25 percent sell-on clause has also been mooted.

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Bruno Lage is hoping June will be a busy month of transfer activity for the club.

The transfer window opens soon but deals are already being struck around Europe. Aston Villa have already signed three players in the form of Philippe Coutinho, Boubacar Kamara
