Wolves rising star 'one of the best defenders in this country'

Wolves defender Max Kilman is one of the best defenders in the Premier League at the moment, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The 24-year-old has firmly established himself in Bruno Lage’s back three this term, and his performances have not gone unnoticed.

Kilman featured in just 18 league matches last season under Nuno Espirito Santo, but he has become an ever-present at the back since Lage arrived at Molineux in the summer.

The Midlands club have one of the best defensive records in the top-flight in 2021/22, and Kilman has certainly played his part in their success.

Heading into the final third of the season, Wolves are in the mix for a European place, and could even potentially break into the top four if they finish the campaign strongly.

Meanwhile, Kilman has been attracting interest from elsewhere, with Chelsea reportedly monitoring the 6 foot 5 centre-back.

Jones has praised Kilman’s consistency, and feels the Englishman could be in line for his maiden England call-up next month.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jones said: “Debatably, he’s England’s most in-form defender right now. He’s been so good for so long that he’s genuinely one of the best defenders in this country. Even though he hasn’t been in the England team, he will become part of that conversation.”

England have a pair of friendlies in March as they will be taking on Switzerland and Ivory Coast at Wembley. Kilman must surely be knocking on the door to be named in the squad.
