Wolves 'right in the mix' to bring £33m sensation to Molineux

Wolves “definitely” have Reims youngster Hugo Ekitike on their radar, according to transfer insider Pete O’Rourke.

The 19-year-old has been linked with a move to Molineux this summer, with Bruno Lage set to make bringing in a new striker a priority.

According to The Telegraph, Wolves have been scouting Ekitike but face serious competition from other clubs if they do try to sign him.

One of those clubs is likely to include Premier League rivals Newcastle United, who tried to buy the French forward in the last transfer window.

In January, Sky Sports reported that the Magpies had agreed a £33m deal with Reims for Ekitike, only for him to remain at the Stade Auguste-Delaune in the end.

As well as Wolves and Newcastle, European giants Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund are also thought to be interested in the France youth international.

“It could be an interesting fight to see who does manage to lure Ekitike away from Reims this summer. It does seem that Wolves are right in there right now.”

Simply put, they have not scored enough goals this season. Despite sitting comfortably in the top 10, Lage’s men have one of the worst records for goals scored in the current Premier League campaign.

Away from Raul Jimenez, the Wolves boss also does not have too many other options, which is why a move for Ekitike makes sense.
