Wolves latest: Romain Saiss named as one of three confirmed summer departures
Romain Saiss, Marcal and John Ruddy will all be leaving Wolves once their contracts end at the end of June.
Ruddy made just four appearances across all competitions last season as backup ‘keeper to Jose Sa. Marcal, who joined the club in 2020, made 31 appearances across two seasons – but will also be leaving once his contract has ended. Finally, Saiss will also be leaving Molineux after making 206 appearances for the club since his arrival in 2016.
“The moment I feared the most has come…” Saiss said on Instagram.
“The moment to say goodbye to you after 6 wonderful years with you.
“It was an honour and a privilege to wear these colours and to contribute to the success and renewal of this club.
“I have met exceptional people over these six years, always looking out for me and my family.
“Thanks to the fans for your support despite the ups and downs, you’ve always been behind me.
“Thank you to the various people working at the club for your kindness on a daily basis.
“Thank you to the various technical and medical staff for your work, for having been an important part of our success.
“Finally, thank you to all the players that I consider as family. A wardrobe of exceptional men that I will never forget.”
The deaprture of Saiss has been expected for some time.
The Morocco captain was in talks over a new contract, however, these discussions quickly broke down.
Saiss has been a key member of the Wolves squad over the past few years. He played an integral part in helping Wolves return to the Premier League in 2018.
Now, a replacement must be brought in this summer, or the club may suffer in his absence.
Featuring mainly on the left-hand side of a back three, a left-footed defender would be the best recruitment.
