Wolves: Lage could make exciting Molineux signing in 144-goal star

Brentford striker Ivan Toney would be a “very good signing” for Wolves this summer, claims journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to Molineux, and O’Rourke has praised him for improving his all-round game.

Last month, 90min reported that several Premier League clubs, including Wolves, are interested in signing Toney and are keeping an eye on him.

The same outlet claims, however, that the Englishman wants to sign a new deal at the Brentford Community Stadium to reflect his status as a proven top-flight player.

Toney has impressed this season in the Premier League following the Bees’ promotion, scoring 12 goals in 29 appearances, which has taken his total career tally to 144 in 362.

It follows an incredible campaign in the Championship last term, where he managed to find the back of the net 33 times, including in the play-off final. Speaking about his leading centre-forward back then, manager Thomas Frank told West London Sport: “Ivan is a special, special player.”

Given his goals this season and his overall improvement on the pitch, O’Rourke thinks Toney could be a shrewd addition for Wolves.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the transfer insider said: “Ivan Toney, it’s not just his goals. I think his all-round game’s improved as well, so he could be a very good signing for someone like a Wolves this summer. He’s going to be in demand from a number of clubs probably.

“Toney’s come to the Premier League and stepped up to the plate. He’s scored goals as well for Brentford and been key in helping them secure survival in their debut season in the Premier League.”
