Wolves "interested" in landing unbelievable £12m star at Molineux - talkSPORT reporter

Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in signing Swansea midfielder Flynn Downes this summer, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.

Bruno Lage’s side are yet to sign a first-team player this summer, but could look to the Championship side to bolster their midfield ahead of the start of the Premier League season in August.

According to Wales Online, Crystal Palace, Southampton, and Wolves have shown an interest in the £1.8m-rated man this summer.

Downes enjoyed an impressive debut campaign after signing from Ipswich Town last summer, and could now be looking to make another step up to the Premier League this summer, after Leeds United had shown an interest in the 23-year-old earlier in the year.

But Leeds’ interest seems to have waned off with the aforementioned clubs seemingly leading the race for the former England U20 international this summer.

And Crook believes that Wolves are interested in the Swansea man, but may struggle to pay the funds for the Championship star.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Flynn Downes at Swansea is somebody that they’re interested in but he will cost £12m. I’m not sure they’ve got £12m.

“I think that really the owners don’t want to put any more of their own money into the project.

“Hence the fact that they’re trying to sell one or two players.

“I think it’s a tricky summer for Wolves and it could be a difficult season as well.”

Wolves are currently in desperate need for a midfielder, with the last time they made a permanent addition in the middle of the park being the signing of Leander Dendoncker back in the summer of 2018.
