Wolves final fixtures compared to rivals after huge chance wasted vs Newcastle United

Wolverhampton Wanderers wasted a chance to pile the pressure on their European rivals by losing 1-0 to Newcastle United on Friday evening.

Wolves would have jumped up to sixth with a win on Tyneside, but Chris Wood's penalty inflicted a fifth defeat in eight games on the Molineux men. Wolves must now wait to see what European rivals Manchester United, West Ham, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal manage this weekend.

The top three of Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea seem to be out of reach, but the race behind them for the final Champions League spot (4th), two Europa League places (5th and 6th) and Europa Conference League football (7th) is incredibly tight. Here is how the land lies after Wolves' latest setback...

Burnley (a), Brighton (h), Chelsea (a), Norwich (h), Liverpool (a), Man City (h - date to be confirmed)

Wolvescan't afford any more slip ups after the defeat to Newcastle. Of the six teams Wolves still have left to face, only top two Liverpool and Manchester City have inflicted narrow defeats on them.
