Wolves facing unwelcome repercussions due to Newcastle, Chelsea summer deals

Premier League moves for a pair of Sevilla players could well hinder Wolves, as Romain Saiss is being tipped as a potential centre-back replacement.

Sevilla have been one of the standout sides in La Liga this season. They sit in second place, four points behind Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Incredibly, Sevilla have conceded just 16 goals in 24 league games. Indeed, they have the best defensive record in La Liga.

The defensive stability can be mainly attributed to their centre-back pairing, Jules Kounde and Diego Carlos. However, the pair have both been tipped for Premier League moves, with Chelsea and Newcastle United interested in the pair, respectively.

What’s more, those moves could have repercussions for Wolves. While the Sevilla pair could join the Premier League, a Wolves player could go in the opposite direction.

That is according to Hespress, who claim Sevilla are keen on Romain Saiss. Wolves have also been defensively strong this season, with the second-best defensive record in the Premier League.

In fact, only two sides have been better defensively than Wolves across Europe’s top five leagues this season – Sevilla and Manchester City.

Sevilla will be keen to replicate the impact the pair have had, and Saiss is clearly a player they think could do that.

The Morocco international is out of contract in the summer. As such, he could well move on for free.

The pull of Champions League football, as well as a chance to battle for the title in Spain, could be an offer too good to pass up.
