Wolves defender breaks silence on Premier League future ahead of contract expiry

Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Romain Saiss has admitted to having "a lot of fun" in the Premier League and insists that no doors are being closed on the player's future.

The 32-year-old's Wolves contract is set to expire this summer when the one-year extension agreed last season ends, but the centre-back remains a key figure under Bruno Lage this campaign. Saiss has played every minute since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year.

The player is now once again on international duty with Morocco as the north African nation look to qualify for the World Cup later this year. Saiss started and played the full 90 minutes as captain in their first leg play-off against the Democratic Republic of Congo yesterday when the pair drew 1-1 in the capital Kinshasa.

But before that match, the centre-back spoke to French national daily sports newspaper L'Equipe about the upcoming qualifiers, but also what the future has in store. "I'm having a lot of fun in the Premier League, but I'm not closing any doors," said Saiss. "I will see the most interesting project here or elsewhere”.

The outlet adds that Wolves have moved to 'offer him an extension' but that the defender 'reserves his answer'. They also name as many as seven clubs that are said to be following the situation.
