Wolves could pull off 'unbelievable business' involving £50m star

Wolves keeping Ruben Neves beyond this summer would be a stunning piece of business from the club, according to insider Dean Jones.

Neves is being linked with some of the biggest clubs in Europe after another impressive campaign at Molineux.

The 26-cap international has helped Wolves move into contention for a European place this season as the club have recovered from their bottom-half finish last term.

Neves was linked with Arsenal and Manchester United last summer, and those two teams are still keen on the midfielder.

PSG and Real Madrid have also registered their interest, and they are believed to be monitoring the 25-year-old, who is valued by his current employers at £50m.

Meanwhile, Wolves have opened talks with their prized asset over a new contract in an attempt to fend off any potential suitors.

Jones thinks Wolves will have pulled off a masterstroke if they convince Neves to stay, but he has admitted that he has doubts about whether the holding midfielder would be willing to sign a fresh deal at Molineux.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “If Wolves kept him, it would be unbelievable business, but I think that contract only gets signed if none of these clubs actually manage to put this package in front of him that’s being talked about.”

Some fans may look back at last summer and point at that as a reason to be optimistic about Wolves’ chances of keeping Neves.

However, it should be remembered that Arsenal seemed to back out of a potential deal once Granit Xhaka had extended his contract, while United appeared to get distracted by the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo in the closing days of the transfer window.
