Wolves confirm eight players have left club including John Ruddy and cult hero

Wolverhampton Wanderers have announced the exits of eight players from Molinuex following the end of the 2021/22 season.

Goalkeeper John Ruddy has been released following the end of his contract having spent the last five years in the West Midlands, making 72 appearances and being the first-choice stopper during the club’s Championship triumph in his first season at the club in 2017/18.

Versatile defender Romain Saiss is also departing the West Midlands after six years of being regular feature for the Old Gold in the Premier League and Championship. The Moroccan international has played 206 times in all competitions, including 14 Europa League appearances in the 2019/20 season.

Across the last four seasons, Saiss has played 110 of Wolves ’ 152 Premier League games since returning to the top-flight, including 31 of their 38 games in the 2021/22 term.

Also leaving Molineux is Brazilian defender Marcal. The former Lyon left-back made 32 appearances for the club across his two years under Nuno Espirito Santo and then Bruno Lage, with 31 of those coming in the Premier League.

Wolves have also announced that youth quintet Conor Carty, Pascal Estrada, Raphael Nya, Jamie Pardington and Faisu Sangare have all been released following the expiration of their deals.

Portuguese midfielder Joao Moutinho’s contract is set to run out this summer. However, Wolves remain in talks with the former Porto and Monaco man over a potential contract extension.

The 35-year-old has been a key figure in Wolves’ four Premier League seasons since getting promoted from the Championship, making 176 appearances in all competitions and playing in 144 of the Old Gold’s 152 Premier League matches.
