Wolves: Bruno Lage 'must strengthen' key area at Molineux

Journalist Josh Holland believes Wolves must strengthen out wide this summer amid links with Newcastle United star Allan Saint-Maximin.

The Midlands club are one outfit who are reportedly interested in signing the 25-year-old when the transfer window reopens.

According to 90min, Newcastle are open to selling Saint-Maximin, alerting Wolves, who are looking to replace Adama Traore.

As well as Wolves, Everton are also thought to be interested in the winger, but any move is likely to hinge on them retaining their status as a Premier League side.

Saint-Maximin could prove to be an expensive purchase, though, with the Mail on Sunday claiming that Newcastle are looking for a fee of around £50m for the Frenchman.

While Saint-Maximin is not the most efficient player in front of goal, scoring just five times in the league this season, he continues to cause defenders up and down the country problems.

“Saint-Maximin was absolutely unplayable tonight,” former Newcastle player Rob Lee said after the Magpies star’s performance against Everton back in February (BT Sport via Chronicle Live).

“He was causing so many problems throughout the game,” Lee later went on to add.

Following the club’s links with Saint-Maximin, Holland told GIVEMESPORT that Wolves need to sign some new wingers.

When asked if they have to strengthen out wide this summer, the football journalist said: “Yeah, of course. I think they’ve got to. Looking at their squad, you’ve got [Pedro] Neto, [Daniel] Podence, [Francisco] Trincao and Hwang [Hee-chan]. But would you say that all four of them have had a telling effect in this season?
