Wolves admit they had no answers to Kevin de Bruyne's Man City masterclass

Wolves were powerless to stop Kevin De Bruyne as the Manchester City talisman ran the show at Molineux on Wednesday, according to their first team coach Carlos Cachada.

Standing in for manager Bruno Lage, who was absent from the game with Covid-19, Cachada said Wolves were in a good position in the first half against City, but had no answer to De Bruyne's brilliance. The Belgian gave City the lead early on, but a good break from Wolves saw his Belgium teammate Leander Dendoncker equalise shortly after.

But by 24 minutes, De Bruyne had completed his hat-trick, and he scored a fourth in the second half to kill any hopes Wolves had of coming back. So when he was assessing the game, Cachada admitted De Bruyne gave Wolves problems they simply had no answer to.

"When you have players like De Bruyne, who can always change the game, you can have a strategy but when it comes to players like this they can score four goals and finish the game," Cachada said.

"With that performance we can do nothing about it.

"We had a good response to the first goal. Suddenly they scored two goals quite quickly and we lost a bit. We tried all the time to come back, we can't so this is the final result.

"We always tried to be a threat to the other team, even when we were losing."
