Woking 1 Ebbsfleet United 1 National League match report: On-loan Leyton Orient midfielder George Moncur scores second goal in three games for Ebbsfleet
Ebbsfleet again came from behind to make it three National League draws in a week on Saturday.
The Fleet trailed at Woking but George Moncur’s second-half goal - his second in three games - meant they picked up a deserved point in a game which could have gone either way.
Ebbsfleet made three changes from the side that drew 1-1 with Yeovil on Tuesday night.
Luke O’Neill, Franklin Domi and Anthony Stewart come into the line-up, replacing the suspended Mustapha Olagunju and injured duo Tyler Cordner and Todd Kane. New signings Alex Lankshear and Ryan Carr were both on the bench.
The pitch was already badly cut up from the warm-ups but both sides should have scored in the opening 20 minutes.
Woking striker Lewis Walker’s flick-on sent Inih Effiong clean through on goal and he opted to go around Mark Cousins. The Fleet keeper made the save and Anthony Stewart was back in time to clear the loose ball.
Then a lovely Fleet move saw Domi play in the run of Edser but he horribly scuffed his left-foot shot wide of the target with just keeper Will Jaaskelainen to beat.
Referee Ross Martin then took centre stage, although having started with the yellow cards he had nowhere to go but to keep producing them.
Toby Edser had already been cautioned for a foul on the lively Matt Ward before Tom Dallison and Stewart joined him in the referee’s notepad by the half-hour.
It was then Woking’s turn but they could have little complaint as Jakubas Mazionis pulled back Thomas, Walker was booked for bringing down Alex Aoraha and then Ward thwarted Domi’s progress as he looked to drive into the penalty area.
That foul presented another good Ebbsfleet chance that saw George Moncur’s free-kick parried and Edser’s follow-up forced behind for a corner.
